Who can use it

Sign in with the same mailbox credentials you use on webmail. There is no separate consumer account.
What works today

- Local ToDos on the device (personal tasks — not the full shared web ToDos product)

What not to expect yet
- Compose attachment upload (use webmail to send files for now)
- Full offline read queues / offline-first mail (listed as coming soon — do not market as live)
- Wear OS, widgets, and tablet split view (roadmap items)
Third-party IMAP apps remain available via IMAP setup if you prefer Outlook or Gmail apps on Android.
Setup checklist
- Confirm the org plan allows mobile.
- Install from Google Play.
- Sign in with full email + mailbox password.
- Enable notifications when prompted (Android 13+ permission).
- Test push or inbox refresh with a message from another account.
- Open Contacts and local ToDos once to verify tabs load.
Relation to webmail
The Android app uses the same webmail REST API as the browser — not direct device IMAP. That is why feature parity follows API capabilities (for example attachment upload still missing on mobile compose).
Notifications and trusted devices
Enable new-mail notifications in account settings. On Android 13+, grant the runtime notification permission. When login approval is enabled for your organization, the app can help approve trusted-device sign-in requests so a laptop login does not stall on an email code you cannot see.
If push is delayed, pull-to-refresh still works; background poll intervals are a fallback, not a promise of instant delivery on every OEM battery saver.
Security habits on phones
- Prefer the official AzAd Mail Android build from Google Play over random IMAP APKs.
- Use a device lock screen; treat the mailbox password like production access.
- Remove the account before selling or returning a phone.
- Remember: compose attachment upload is not in the app yet — do not assume a “paperclip” feature exists until release notes say so.
When to use IMAP apps instead
Some organizations standardize on Outlook for Android. That works with IMAP settings on eligible plans. Native AzAd Mail is usually calmer for users who already live in AzAd webmail, because folders and search match the API-backed experience.

- Confirm org plan includes mobile entitlement (typically 15 GB+).
- Publish internal note: Play Store link, sign-in with full email + mailbox password.
- Pilot three users for one week — notifications, attachment download, Contacts tab.

Feature parity expectations
Android follows webmail API capabilities. When webmail gains a feature, Android may follow in a later release. IMAP apps have their own gaps (search, folder semantics). Pick one mobile strategy per team — mixing native AzAd and Outlook on the same user creates duplicate notifications unless configured carefully.

Full offline queues are not marketed as live. Received attachment download works; compose upload remains webmail-first until release notes announce otherwise. Train field staff accordingly before rollout.
Sign-in and device approval
When trusted-device login approval is enabled, mobile users may need to approve laptop sign-in from the app. Test that flow during pilot week so executives are not blocked on day one of cutover.
